? talk to me about your voting process. florida took a long time to get their numbers and. caller: it did. it was not that i tried to call, i have been sick and not been able to. i want to say one thing -- c- span has improved so much by asking people to give their zip codes. this keeps serial collars limited. the one recommendation i really want c-span to be diligent about his keeping callers on the question. they will call in and want to answer their own agenda or whatever. please try to retarget them back the question is.e first of all, i do not think we need to speed up the voting process. i think we need to make it better. i am not a real big fan of early voting except for people disabled or in the military. i think it does increase the chance for fraud. host: how would you make it better? caller: i confess i do not have the answers, but there are many states like massachusetts that do not have early voting at all. would you look at the end of the election and look at the problems, they did not have really very many problems in their state. there are other states like that as wel

small troop of men, army soldiers marching from one place to another in florida, which was really the first site of the men to most americans at that time. what that did was set in motion a moment that led to a war against the seminole indians, one of the overlooked moments in our past, which is something also try to do, tell the stories that the textbooks to leave out. most americans have never heard of the longest most costly war in american history up until vietnam, which was the seminole war fought in florida. so that moment was as gripping and astonishing in a way to people about time as 9/11 was to bus. pearl harbor certainly was again. to each generation has had one of these moment that we do forget that we've been through this before. obviously, we are going through right now in a sense. i'm a new yorker. i ensure new york and we are living through this extraordinary moment. i just want to say briefly thank you to the people who are expressing such concern and care for new york and this region. we have a long way to go and a lot to do. on my way into the studio this mornin

, florida, two people were wounded in a shooting outside a walmart. mese say it was a disagreement over a parking space. in the bay area, no major problems as shoppers flooded businesses such as best buy and target. with more stores opening in the pre-dawn hours the rush was largely over by lunchtime. why all the effort on a holiday morning? >> we've investigated on if we could probably get the same price all year, and usually black friday is it. >> won't be clear for a few days how many shoppers hit the growing number of stores that actually hoped on thanksgiving day itself. as for those alleged bargains out there today, i guess you don't have to worry if you slept in and missed it. the wall street journal looked at six years of retail data and found for many gift items, prices will actually drop closer to christmas. other hot products such as flat screen televisions usually hit their lowest price points before the holiday season even happens, not to say there weren't a few door buster deals out there, but realistically braving the crowds wouldn't save you all that much money. >>>

, florida, and i owned the branch clinics that existed in new orleans, pascagula and gulf port, mississippi. we thought we had dodged the bullet and then the levies broke and who would have predicted that there was a sea of humanity in the super dome that basically was in extreme miss? who would have predicted in this day and age we would lose many, many people based on the fact they couldn't be medevacked, that the hospitals themselves had been flooded and the hospital staff was having to carry critically ill patients up to the top floors to avoid the water that was filling in the rooms. who would have predicted that? and were we set up to handle that? and who would have predicted in the early goings there would be civic disorder and civic disobedience and lack of command and control and then the military came there and provided that stability for a while until the civic authorities took over and eventually got things moving in a fairly organized continuum. we learned a tremendous amount of lessons from that, lessons that i hope no other city will ever have to repeat again. but the bottom

. she is like a new yorker moving to florida but i hear she is enjoying the snow. so this is a fun day and weekend for the animals, so thank you all for that. speaking of holidays, we are trying something new this year. we are going to do wild lights. the zoo will be lit up. of course the lights will have animal and wild themes, open until 8:00. this is free for zoo members. i think it gives a chance for families and members to enjoy the zoo during the evening, so we look forward to that. speaking of winter, it is time for winter zoo camp. 's some of the campers. this is run for two weeks, run by joe fitting, vice president of education over 30 years. hundreds of thousands of kids come through the camp programs annually and informational fees can be found on our zoo web site. speaking of kids this year we have partnered with the san francisco public library. they have come on the san francisco free days. this has been wildly popular. we think the public libraries on the first wednesday, free services from the library. if the kids can't come to the zoo, we go to them through the zoo mob

. texas and florida will give you an idea of how you can govern without an income tax -- not a 13% income-tax. people move. the kind of know what will happen -- indiana passed right to work, cutting taxes, giving half the kids in the state school choice, a voucher, a scholarship of $5,000. illinois just raise taxes so as not to reform the government pension system. who is going to build a factory within 100 miles on the western side of that border? any takers for the people who think jobs and opportunities are going to move into illinois, or not? why, if we know something it is not going to work, do we impose a nationally when we wanted to let the state level. people that the leading blue states for decades. not always to warmer climates -- states with lower income tax and less spending. people move to the states with fewer government services. really? why do we pretend that is what people want as opposed to what the unionized bureaucracy in the state government says it wants. we are also seeing test on school choice. louisiana and indiana both have over half a million people-plus

on black friday in tallahassee, florida. a man and a woman were hospitalized. their wound are not life threatening. police are searching for the gunman. >> rescue efforts continue in san francisco to free a man wedged in a drain pipe several feet below ground. customers at a best buy store heard the man's faint cries for help on friday and called police. public works crews removed a section of pipe that's holding him. it's not known how long the man has been stuck there. it's about five minutes past the hour. time for another check of the weather with martina brown from atlanta. >> it's all about the november chill that's happening right now. for the folks in parts of the great lakes region and northeast a cold front moved through and unleashed lots of cold air. temperatures that were once in the 50s and 60s that are now looking like 30s and 40s. a gusty northwest within. as you can see we're looking at lake-effect snow for those folks as well. the cold air is moving as far to the south as the south and east. those folks will be dealing with the same kind of chill, loss in the 20s

rutgers at pittsburgh south carolina at clemson, georgia tech at georgia, florida-florida state. there are a number of games. but it looks like the best is number one notre dame. usc 70-degree weather and sunshine. that's after the morning fog starts to burn off. here's our look across the country. what we can expect you can see a little rainfall the rain for the oregon game. pacific northwest there is some snowfall. parts of idaho, wyoming, montana, too. we've got some advisories and watches in effect there. the rainfall continues, not so much in the seattle area but another cold front again with blustery conditions move in. the wind's picking up. we still have lake effect snows. we won't seat highr# totals that we had in minnesota, wisconsin and michigan. but i wouldn't be surprised to see a 7 to 9 inch total in some areas. advisories for the lake effects snow. that's accompanieded with winds, too. we're right into winter it seems like after a very mild thanksgivi you're waiting for tomorrow some of the best conditions maeas of course in the first hard freeze across the deep south. high
